Follow Our Journey! Lates – Day 7

Today was a serene morning on the docks at Nanny Kay- one of our favorite locations. The campers had a chill morning waking up and eating breakfast before getting ready to head off the docks. This is their second time dedocking and they are already pros! They did such a great job taking initiative and helping out their crew mates with throwing lines, being a roaming fender, and calling out distances for the skipper of the day to hear when coming off the dock.

Once all the boats were underway, they quickly got their sails up to head to Sandy Kay which is on the other side of Tortola. On the sail you can see St. John in the distance and a lot of cool buildings on the coastline. Once everyone was moored at Sandy Kay (a beautiful little island right by Jost Van Dyke) we had a hearty lunch before getting ready to gear up for the Sail Caribbean Olympics! For the olympics, the each come to the beach with a flag for their boat and attitudes ready to compete. The games in which they have to participate in are: Dizzy Fender, Synchronized Swimming, Tug-A-War, Birdie on a Perch, and Sand Art. Each camper seemed to have such a great time and really showed some spirit!

Afterwards, the crews headed on a quick motor over to Sidney’s Bay, which is where we would be staying the night. They quickly got ready for a lovely dinner on shore of barbecue chicken, salad, roasted potatoes, fruit, coleslaw, and pasta salad. Then, everyone hit the dance floor and showed off their moves! After a long day, everyone was pretty tired and was ready for another day in the beautiful BVI’s.
