Follow Our Journey: Bravo, Charlie, Foxtrot & Sierra – Day 12

Written by Janaye D., Marine biology/mate, and Bella H., divemaster/mate

Today we woke up at Long Bay and ate Frosted Flakes, Cheerios, and bagels for breakfast. Some of our divers got picked up, and then we dropped the mooring ball to sail to Great Harbour. Underway, we reviewed downwind sailing and jibing. Once picking up mooring balls, we made sandwiches, and some of the campers heated theirs on the stove like paninis. The advanced divers then left to dive, and we had some chill time to swim to other boats and paddle board. At 2 pm, we started Dingy Dares, a Sail Caribbean tradition that consists of various challenges that each boat races to complete, and then they dingy to the staff boat to present to the judges.

The first Dingy Dare was to put the most amount of life jackets on one person. Vesper and Blue Buddha tied, with one representative from each wearing 26 life jackets!

The subsequent Dingy Dares included creating a rap with your boat name, dressing up your counselor, assembling a fun drink for the judges, making up a handshake with your crew, the best marine biology fact, and finally, a dingy race with only paddles (no motors).

There were lots of laughs and jamming to music, and the judges were decked out in fun attire, such as flamingo sunglasses and Hawaiian shirts, which amped the energy up.

Afterward, we headed back to our own boats for boat showers and dinner prep. Sloppy Joes were a fun change up on the menu, and some boats made a vanilla cake for dessert. Tomorrow we are headed to The Bight!
