Today has been a great day at Sail Caribbean! Yesterday, we welcomed students from far and wide to our home base on Tortola, Hodges Creek Marina! After their long travel days, staff helped them find their new homes for the next three weeks and unpack. Everyone had so much fun meeting their fellow crew members, mates, and captains.
Once everyone had a chance to relax a little bit, our hot meal arrived. We had a delicious dinner of grilled chicken, mac and cheese, rice and beans, and ribs! It was so good! After every boat was called up for dinner, everyone headed back to their boats for their first boat meeting and a few get-to-know-you games!
Our boats for MEGA 2 programs are Mile Hi, Le Grand Bleu, Apres Sail, and Tigre!
The next morning everyone woke up feeling very well rested after an early, quiet night on board! The breakfast buffet was delicious and got the students ready to go to their first dive and ASA, American Sailing Association, briefings where they learned what they would need for diving and their sailing certifications. How cool!
After everyone had what they needed, we headed back to boats again to start our PDCs, pre-departure checks, and prepared to de-dock. Everyone was able to de-dock smoothly and set sail for White Bay!
Along the way, students had their first sail-raising and lowering lessons and got to officially sail for the first time! Everyone was so excited when we got to our destination because we were welcomed with a beautiful sunset! All students loved getting in their first swimmy fun time, with the accompanying swim test, with such a good view!
Once everyone had dinner, it was a quiet night on board and a few rounds of high, low, buffalo to finish out the day!
