Today, we woke up at Marina Cay, a small mooring field by Great Camanoe Island and Scrub Island. We started off the day with a simple but filling breakfast buffet, which included bagels, yogurt, and cereal. Shortly after this, we said goodbye to our Foxtrot and Sierra students for the morning, as they left to do a beach restoration project at Long Bay. This project included weeding out invasive and harmful trees as well as drilling holes and poisoning them in order to try and create more room for native plants to grow!
While the Foxtrot and Sierra students were doing this, the rest of the fleet dropped the mooring ball and motored over to Long Bay, where we then had free swim time and prepped for lunch.
Following lunch, everyone went to shore and spent time on the gorgeous beach of Long Bay. The picturesque beach stretches end to end of the large inlet, and the white sand fills from the lush forest all the way to the crystal clear waters. This was the perfect place to enjoy a cold and refreshing ice cream and play different games in the water. On top of that, we had plenty of time to tube and wakeboard as well, which was on the bucket list for many of the students!
Once we wrapped up our time on shore, we all went back to our respective boats and had a fun and music-filled ocean shower party! Following this, we had a delicious pasta dish for dinner. Then, we did our routine end-of-the-night, deep boat clean, which is something we do every day to ensure we are staying safe and tidy! To end the night, we had a power down and had a quiet night on board under the gorgeous stars of Long Bay!
