Today we woke up bright and early at Little Harbor on Jost Van Dyke. We immediately convened with the Skippers and Navigators of the day for a Challenge Day briefing. We dropped the ball right after and started motoring upwind past Sandy Cay, towards White Bay on Guana Island. Sandy Cay is a National Park and a filming location for Pirates of the Caribbean, and it is super beautiful.

After passing Sandy Cay we raised the sails and continued heading upwind. About an hour later we learned that the plan for the day had changed due to incoming weather; we would be heading to the luxurious (and sheltered) Scrub Island Resort instead. We sailed past Tortola, Guana Island, and Great Caminoe until we reached Marina Cay outside Scrub. The dive boats arrived and picked up all the divers for an amazing afternoon diving off the Dogs.

While this was happening, everyone else spent a relaxing couple of hours hanging out at Scrub Island, enjoying the boutiques, pools, grocery store, and beach. When the divers returned we all went back to the boats to start prepping dinner and baking cakes for the cake competition. The judges came around and were super impressed with Tonga’s Barbie cake.

After the judges left we had a nice long boat meeting and then powered down for bed.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
