We started the day at Little Harbor by sleeping in the sunshine and goats on shore! The morning was extraordinarily chill and everybody had a chance to snorkel, watersport, swim, and relax. Some students had their crack at wakeboarding, others chased sea turtles, and others spent the morning reading on the bow. Some highlights from our morning at Little Harbor include seeing a reef shark, many turtles, and puffer fish!
Some students took their American Sailing Association 101 practical exams on the Colgates where they successfully demonstrated their ability to skipper the boat through a man overboard drill. Betty’s Dream started the afternoon with a challenge day briefing and strategy session. They then practiced challenge day by doing their pre-departure checks challenge day style! We up-anchored and started our sail to Jost Van Dyke. We put up sails and began our sail with a points of sail lesson. On a broad reach, we sailed through the channel and performed gybes. We navigated through the Thatch Cut and enjoyed looking at the houses and buildings along the way.
As we emerged on the north side of Tortola, we dodged a rain storm and performed a student-run mooring ball pickup. We sped through boat clean and had time to shower and get dressed up for dinner ashore. After a delicious dinner at Sidney’s we broke it down on the dance floor and absolutely boogied the night away. The dance party continued on our bow before we ended the night.
