Our super fun night sail started with a beautiful sunset as we left Trellis. As we were watching the sunset, we saw a ton of dolphins jumping and swimming right up against our boat. Once it got dark we hooked into the jacklines and started our night sail to the Leeward Islands. We took shifts for three hours in groups of three to sail, watch for other boats, and keep the boat on course. On each shift, we listened to music, ate snacks, and stargazer.
At noon the next day, we moored at St. Martin, officially ending our down-island overnight sail! While we waited for our boat to get customs approved to enter French territory, we had some swimmy fun time in the clear blue St. Martin water. Then once we got through customs we took the dinghy to shore and had on shore exploring time. We got lots of juices, pastries, ice cream and pizza! Then we walked around St. Martin and had dinner there, meeting a very interesting waiter who was fluent in many languages! We ended our day with a night hike up the mountain to an old war fortress where we took in the sights of St. Martin. Others were a little tired and headed back to the boat early to chill. Once we were all back on the boat, we made some matching boat friendship bracelets and then went to bed!
We woke up the next morning excited to head to St. Barths, a favorite island of many of the campers. We started sailing early and moored around 1, taking some boat showers before heading to the dock. Then we explored St. Barths, shopping along the main streets and taking car tours of the island in rented mini Coopers. Then we stopped at the Point for the incredible view. Next, we went BTB (back to boat) to get ready for our Soda Social! We went to Le Select for Sprites, virgin piña coladas, delicious burgers and French fries. Finally, we headed back to the boat for a relaxing boat meeting and a few rounds of appreciation circle, where we talked about what we appreciate about each other.
