Mega Fleet had another beautiful day in the sunny BVI. The fleet woke up on beautiful Jost Van Dyke at Sidney‘s after a fun night of dancing, shopping, and eating ice cream. After a hardy breakfast made by Sammy and Lydia, the fleet did a boat swap! Students from all boats mixed and matched and went to different boats to sail with new friends and learn the ropes on different style ships (pun intended).
On their new vessels, all of the campers practiced upwind sailing as they tacked up towards Great Camino, sang songs, and ate a hardy lunch underway. Once they arrived at Lee Bay, the campers practiced anchoring. After anchoring the Sierra program went kayaking in the mangroves and the Foxtrot program went turtling. Veronica, Jazzy, Lydia, and Holden saw sharks and upside-down jellyfish while kayaking! They learned about how mangrove grows and even planted mangrove seeds to help restore them.
The rest of the fleet had swimmy fun time: a time to swim around, sail Hobie catamarans, and do cannonball competitions. The evening ended in a Sail Caribbean classic—Dinghy Dares!! This tradition involves doing various tasks announced by staff boat such as putting the most amount of lifejackets on a counselor in 5 minutes or creating a song and secret handshake! Dreamer absolutely killed it with 22 lifejackets on Captain Nicole.
The night ended in a dance rave on FLX! One more day left!!
