The Baynes Sound Connector’s 10 a.m. sailing from Buckley Bay to Denman Island West was delayed for 30 minutes as police were called to assist.

“We’ve got zero tolerance for any abusive passengers towards our staff,” said B.C. Ferries spokesperson Deborah Marshall, adding that there are established protocols in place to protect staff.

Ship crews were able to make up the time and return to a regular schedule afterwards, she said.

The Baynes Sound Connector travels on one of the world’s longest cable-ferry routes and is the only cable vessel in the B.C. Ferries fleet.
