This morning at Trellis Bay was an early wake up for staff members. At 5 am, staff dropped the ball and started a beautiful sunrise motor to the Baths on Virgin Gorda. The Baths is a national park here in the BVI. It is a collection of giant rocks, beautiful coral reefs, and wonderful hiking trails. It draws a lot of tourist attention because of its natural beauty so we wake up early to secure a spot on the mooring balls and have a less crowded time there.
At the Baths, we swam ashore from the dinghy line and hiked through the giant rocks. It is quite an adventure because there are parts you have to climb up and down stairs and other parts that you have to use a rope for security. The campers always love it and, personally, it is one of my favorite spots.
After our fun excursion, each boat geared up for race day! Our race began at the Baths and ended up the island at Mountain Point (but first each boat had to circumnavigate the dog islands). I had the pleasure of sailing with Mile Hi L’Attitudes on their quest for victory. Each camper was really eager to win and their captain and mates (Mikey, Kelly, and Val) did a great job teaching them about race techniques. They learned fast and well because they ended up winning the race! Their prize was a parade through the bay on the motor boats.
After a long but fun day filled with a bunch of new experiences, the campers were ready to relax and unwind at beautiful Mountain Point.
