We have been loving exploring the authentic Caribbean island of St. Kitts SO much! The staff and students’ cups are filled and we are so thankful to be seeing these beautiful places. This morning we got up, made fluffy pancakes, and enjoyed the calm morning here in Port Zante Marina. Crews also did what we call ‘hydration games’, and this morning we played a hydration game to the song Thunderstruck. It’s always a fun way to make sure everyone is hydrated and drinking enough water, especially before a busy day ahead. After doing our laundry, and finishing up some morning chores, we hopped into taxis to take us on car tours throughout the island. We first stopped at a few lookout points to see the ocean vistas. Then we went into the jungle to swing on vines, hike around, and breath in the crisp rainforest air. There is lots to see here, including monkeys and mongoose! We have spotted so many of them. Though, usually, they run away before I can pull my camera out and snap a photo.
After our time in the jungle, we proceeded to tour the island and saw some historical spots of significance like the Brimstone Hill Fortress, which is a national park here in St. Kitts and Nevis. It was so neat to see a bit of history and walk around, especially enjoying the spectacular views from above.
We then headed to Shipwreck Beach on the Caribbean side of the island and got to play in the water, order virgin daiquiries, and eat yummy food. Later, we headed back to boats and had a wonderful BBQ moment with both boats involved in preparing dinner for the fleet. We socialized, danced around the boats to Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood. The day has been fun and full and we are ready to get a good nights’ sleep for our sail tomorrow to St. Eustatius. Stay tuned!
