Today we woke up to a beautiful rainbow over the bight. We had bagel sandwiches for breakfast complete with bacon and scrambled eggs or blueberry and cream cheese. We dropped the ball by 9 am while Henry, Cole, and Noah left to sail on the 26 foot Colgates. We raised the sails as soon as possible on our way to little harbor. Underway, we did a med-anchoring lesson- anchoring with a stern line addition! We had to be extra careful since you end up tying about 20 feet from rocks.
For lunch we made loaded mac n cheese which had a few hiccups while making and had mixed reviews. After we cleaned up all of our lunch dishes, we got to swim and explore little harbor. We saw rays fly out of the water and swam with turtles. Then we did FAF rotations. FAF just means time to rest, swim, read, and hang out. Some people even use this time to take a quick nap in the shade.
Harrison, Morgan, and Margo led a squid dissection. They pointed out the beak, chromatophores, gender organs, large eyes, ink sack, and spine. From there, we did an abandoned hotel hike. The hotel was built in 1812 and updated with electricity and running water, but is currently in very poor condition. The views, toilet cactus, and mosaics are the highlights of the tour. After we were able to go tubing, waterskiing, wake boarding, snorkeling, or sailing.
For dinner we made chicken mozzarella melts. While delicious, they took a while to make. We played two rounds of empire after dinner. Courtney won the first, and Logan won the second. Tomorrow we’re looking forward to olympics and Sydney’s!!
