Follow Our Journey! Alpha & Tango – Day 7

“Oh Canada! Oh Canada! We stand on guard for thee, Oh Canada!”

Today our two staff members from Canada woke us up with a beautiful rendition of the Canadian national anthem for Canada Day! And then, we dropped the mooring ball at Cane Garden Bay on the north side of Tortola, meandered through the cut between Tortola and Guana Island, and anchored in the beautiful Lee Bay. We raised our sails fully after exiting the channel and pointed our boat out into the open sea. Unlike previous days, the sun warmed our skin as quickly as the breeze cooled us. We tacked to stay on course to the cut and dropped sails once we considered ourselves close enough. After today, we can say that the north side of Tortola has been successfully navigated by the Sail Caribbean Alpha fleet!

Upon arrival to Lee Bay, we swam, tubed, and sailed Colgates. This secluded anchoring spot proved to be the perfect place for all three due to its calm waters, moderate winds, and of course: pretty views. Also, we floated near staff boat and drank soda to celebrate Canada Day.

We started the day off right with some bread dipped in eggs and cinnamon, topped with syrup of course. Sandwiches were our midday meal of choice, allowing more freedom and options to our hungry and growing sailors, with sandwiches ranging from 2 slices of bread to every deli meat, cheese, topping, and condiment possible. Lastly, we concluded our day with some delicious chicken fajitas.

Another day down… to see a new place, make new friends, eat new food, drink LOTS of water, laugh really hard, cherish the breeze, smile… what a privilege!
