MUSKEGON, MI – The Muskegon Yacht Club is opening its doors to the public this weekend in celebration of bringing together nearly 130 sailboats, enthusiasts and community members for an unforgettable 84th Queen’s Cup Finish party.
Typically, the Muskegon Yacht Club at 3198 Edgewater St. is only open to members of the club or a guest of a member. But for this community party, anybody is welcome, organizers said.
Leading Muskegon-based marketing firm Revel and local craft brewery Pigeon Hill Brewing Company joined forces in branding the highly anticipated sailing party event at the Muskegon Yacht Club, naming it “Reach to the Beach.”
The 84th Queen’s Cup Regatta Finish party is scheduled for Saturday, July 1 along Muskegon Lake, aiming to create a memorable experience for attendees while showcasing Muskegon’s rich history and vibrant spirit.
“Anybody can come out to the party, whether you’re interested in what the yacht club is all about or into boating,” said Sarah Powers, vice president of account services at Revel. “The No. 1 thing the community can expect is a great party that’s open to the public.”
This year, nearly 130 boats will be departing from Milwaukee, WI, for Muskegon this week. In the past, boats came from as close as Chicago and as far as New York City, organizers said.
Also new for this year is an event-exclusive beer from Pigeon Hill Brewing Company called “Reach to the Beach, Please.” The brew is a summer ale, according to the Revel news release.
Attendees can get their hands on the limited-edition cans by purchasing a $5 beer ticket during the event. There will also be live music by “Kindred” and “Sweet Justice,” food and drinks provided by Muskegon Yacht Club, trivia games, prizes and an open pool all day long.
Derek Dile, graphic designer at Pigeon Hill Brewing Company said he’s excited to provide something special for the regatta finish party.
“It feels good to be able to put some of my own creativity into an event like this,” Dile said in the news release. “Perhaps more importantly, though, building stronger relationships between downtown Muskegon businesses is always a good thing. Community is arguably the most important thing to the identity of Pigeon Hill, along with great beer.”
The collaboration will create an immersive experience that reflects Muskegon’s Maritime heritage while infusing elements of excitement and modernity, the release said.
“Not only are we bringing two fundamental Muskegon businesses together in a really unique way, but the brand is totally unique in the sailing community,” Powers added. “I’m excited to see the impact this brand will have, and I’m excited about what else Revel may create with Pigeon Hill in the future.”
