Crew had an egg-celent start to the day with scrambled eggs and toast before raising sails and leaving Lee Bay. We sailed to Scrub Island Resort & Marina and learned more about tacking, unfurling the jib, and docking. After lunch, we cleaned our boats and campers interested in marine biology headed out on a kayak tour of the mangroves where they saw baby lemon sharks!
.
Other campers had fun on the water trampoline, two pools, and water slide at Scrub. A squall came through the area and kayakers sheltered from the rain under the mangrove canopies while those at Scrub explored the shops, including a couple boutiques and a small store for snacks. Soon after, the staff boat pulled into the marina with provisions and it was all hands on deck to get food and the ingredients for the next couple days on all six boats.
Teriyaki chicken, vegetables, and rice was on the dinner menu and it was an all around favorite!
Our marine biology coordinator, Natalie, taught us about nocturnal sea creatures such as squirrel fish and bioluminescent plankton. Off the docks we spotted tarpon and more sharks!
We went back on our respective boats to clean our dinner dishes while dancing to music and got phone time to call home.
We then settled in for the night, goodnight Scrub Island!
