PHNOM PENH, May 6 (Bernama) — The national sailing camp is expected to continue cruising well in the last two days of competition at the 2023 SEA Games when the various event draw to a close on Monday.

Team manager Muhammad Fariz Idham Mat Zaki said that the entire line-up of athletes showed high commitment and seriousness throughout the four days of the competition at Sihanoukville Boulevard in Sihanoukville province.

He said that the encouraging form saw almost all the athletes now in the top three groups but they should be wary of their opponents overtaking them at any time if a mistake occurs.

“Even though we are in the top three and we cannot be too complacent or confident because anything can happen in the last two days.

“However, if we look at the distance between competitors such as Singapore and Thailand, the points are very close while sharing the same points in the 29er class. No matter what, the sailing team will try to give their best until the competition ends,” he said when contacted by Bernama here.

As of the fourth day of the sailing competition, the national squad dominates the RS:One and RS:X classes which have entered the ninth race respectively through Izry Hafiezy Fitri Azri and Muhammad Hafizin Mansor.

The other four classes saw national sailors ranked third after eight races, namely Muhammad Hilfi, Nafael Mohd Hasrizan-Sara Amanda Mohd Noor Azman in the optimistic mixed, Muhammad Faizal Ahmad Asri (ILCA 7), Nur Adlina Nasreen Mohd Nasri (ILCA 6). and Muhammad Asnawi Iqbal Adam for class ILCA 4.

In the meantime, the Abdul Latif Mansor-Muhammad Dhiauddin Rozaini pairing is also in third position in the 29er class after 10 races.
